How CNC Routed Signs Are Made

CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) Routing allows for a nice alternative to Traditional Sandblasted Signs.

Below is the typical staging of a V-Groove HDU Sign Foam Routed CNC Project from Start to Finish:

Step ONE:

Computer files are supplied by the customer or are created in-house by our design department. The files are saved in "vector" format which means that the letters and shapes are created using a series of paths and nodes that the router can interpret.
Step One: Illustrator EPS Computer File

Step TWO:

The substrate is mounted to the table and the router performs the appropriate cuts based on the file.
Step Two: Router Table

Step THREE:

The Material is then removed from the router table and is sent to our Priming Department where it receives two coats of primer.

Step FOUR:

The next step is to apply the final finish to the primed sign. In most applications we used 1Shot! Sign Lettering Enamels. We also have a variety of optional finishes that can be applied to the final product such as Metallic Gold and UV Coatings.
Step Three: Finishing

Step FIVE:

The sign is packaged and shipped via UPS or Insured Motor Carrier depending on the size and location.
